Teen Bras

There are so many teenagers today who want to be treated as though they are full adults, and yet they do plenty of things that prove that they are not yet ready to be treated like adults. While a person’s clothing should not be used against them or to judge them, there are so many teen girls who dress inappropriately that it is difficult to take them seriously. While there’s a difference between judging someone for the type or brand of clothes that they wear and judging them based on the amount of skin or underwear that is showing in public, one has to wonder just what these teens expect to show the world with their underwear hanging out.

Many mothers try to get their daughters to choose teen bras that are miniature models of bras for older women, but most teens are not at all interested in these types of bras. A teen’s bra, in her eyes, should be hip and cool, and it can not be styled in an adult manner and still be hip and cool in her eyes. Whether teen bras should be polka-dotted or should be pink at the moment is not the question, styles change quickly over time, but the bottom line is that girls don’t want their own bras to look like their mother’s bras.

The Transition

The time pre-teen before bra wearing is a difficult enough time for girls who are trying to have the right clothes and wear their hair the right ways in order to be accepted and to be considered cool by the other kids. It’s during this teenage bra transition that many girls start taking this need to be cool to an extreme. Even though mothers understand their daughters’ need to be cool, they don’t always understand the extent to which teenage girls are willing to take it. From fights about bras teens have with their moms to the fights they have about homework and boys, the transition years can be very tough ones for both mother and child.

One way to get teens bras that are ‘appropriate’ in their mother’s eyes is to get them bras yourself without taking the child with you. Anyone who has had a teenager knows approximately how well this will work, which is not well at all! Shopping for bras petite teenagers will wear without them present is easier, but makes everything harder in the long run. In order to get a compromise, take your teen with you and discuss the teenage bra models together in the store. You won’t always agree, but at least you will make your decisions together.
