Stages Of Breast Cancer

Not every woman is aware of what the different breast cancer stages are or even aware that breast cancer evolves in stages. Any woman who is going through the stages is acutely aware of the stages of breast cancer and perhaps does not want to be reminded of them and her progression through them. Any woman who has reached stage 3 breast cancer will tell you that she is violently afraid of stage 4 breast cancer, or perhaps she is waiting in extreme tranquility for the end stage of breast cancer. For many women, the end is to be feared, while for others it is an accepted ending.

The stages of breast cancer are divided so as to provide women and their families with information that generalizes what the woman is going through at that particular stage of the cancer. A woman in stage iv breast cancer is going to have many health issues that will complicate her life, much moreso than someone with stage 2 breast cancer. In either case, the woman and her family members and friends need to be aware of what they should expect. For women at a later breast cancer stage, the stages can become an acutely traumatizing factor in their illness, which is why women in advanced breast cancer stages often ignore labeling their stage. At this point, the stages are primarily for doctor’s use.

Enduring

Women with breast cancer stage 3 are sometimes still hoping for a kind of miracle, but are often resolute in that they will never make it into remission. A woman in stage 1 breast cancer is probably still very hopeful that treatments will work, but a woman in stage 4 is probably sure that she has no hope of survival.

A different stage of breast cancer is used to define survival rates among women with breast cancer. A woman with breast cancer stage iv has a much lower chance of surviving than does a woman with stage 1 breast cancer. These breast cancer stage survival rates can be a source of depression for many women approaching the breast cancer final stages progression and many doctors avoid using the terms any more than is necessary. All in all, the labels of stages are useful for women in the beginning and help to label symptoms and things to look for, but in the end they can become a kind of psychological damper, which doesn’t help matters any. The stages of breast cancer become, in the later stages, labels lacking hope.
